We sympathize with you,
raising toddlers and young children is tough. Arguing with a 3 year old over eating something healthy while running on 4 hours of sleep isn’t how you want to spend your time.
What can you do if your little ray of sunshine doesn’t want to eat something? The reality is, if your child doesn’t want to eat a food, they’re probably not going to. They might throw that banana right back at you, they might spit that spinach out, or they might throw a tantrum in the middle of the library.
We’re living it too, and we asked ourselves “why”? Why is no one making children’s snacks that both parents and kids can agree are awesome? Why do we have to settle for the snacks that are available when we’re out of the house?
Dragon Bars mission is to make snacks that kids want to eat and parents want to feed them. We were sick of compromising on that, and if you are too, then our snacks are made for your family!
Making snacks that kids want to eat, and parents want to feed them.
Providing access to simple, healthy, and affordable children’s snacks wherever you are.
Transparency, Trustworthiness, Nutrition, Innovation, Education, Accessibility
A biochemist, a behavioral analyst, and two sales guys walk into a bar… That sounds like the beginning of a corny joke, right? It’s actually the origin of Dragon Bars. Read on to learn how two families fed up with unhealthy snacks in the market turned the kid’s snack game on its head. Having kids ourselves inspired us to not only making snacks that kids want to eat and parents want to feed them, but also to educate children about nutrition. We hope to help reduce childhood obesity and prepare the next generation to make healthier eating choices.
Jessica is a biochemist who worked in quality management at one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies. She ensured that products are manufactured to the highest quality standards. At Dragon Bars we hold ourselves to that same quality standard.
Brittany is a Board Certified Behavioral Analyst who specializes in behavioral change programs for kids 2 – 14. Her experience is the foundation of our educational content, where we give parents tips and tricks to encourage their children to grab an apple instead of a cookie.
Eric and Ian are sales & marketing guys (with wives way smarter than they are) who are insanely passionate about health and nutrition. They won’t stop until every child in America has tried Dragon Bars and improved their lives through our educational content.
Together we are Dragon Bars and we want to make the world a better place by preparing the next generation to make the right decisions when it comes to health and nutrition.
We don’t know about you, but when we think about stereotypical successful founders of companies, we think of some unrelatable big wigs, hiding away in their ivory towers, counting their quiche. Their decisions are made to line their pockets, without a thought to the ripple effect their actions can cause. It’s an unfortunate blemish on the face of what is, in our opinion, the greatest economic structure ever created.
We need to expect more from our companies’ decision makers. Because if we don’t, this country cannot be the best version of itself. We need more Henry Ford’s, Elon Musk’s, Bill and Melinda Gates, and Steve Jobs running our companies. Creators that are passionate about creating solutions to problems, rather than just creating and hoarding wealth.
So what problem do we believe needs a solution?
As of 2016, the national childhood obesity rate was 18.5%. The rate increases as American’s get older: 13.9% of 2- to 5-year-olds, 18.4% of 6- to 11-year-olds and 20.6% of 12- to 19-year-olds have obesity.
Simply put, we’re not teaching our children how to eat properly, and it is having negative effects on them for the rest of their lives.
The founders of Dragon Bars are husbands, wives, mothers, fathers, and friends moving towards a solution. We believe creating an organic, nut free, simple, snack that uses only fruit to sweeten our products is a great way to help teach children that healthy eating can absolutely taste good. We believe this is the right way to feed our children. If we can make these snacks affordable, accessible, and taste great, we’re helping solve the rise in childhood obesity.
Hard work, empathy, accountability, problem solving, appreciation, and respect. These are the traits that Dragon Bars founders have injected into and will maintain within this company from start to finish. Otherwise, we’re just another set of founders that only care about making a buck at whatever cost.
We won’t always get it right, but we promise you that when we realize our mistakes, we’ll fix what we can, and learn.
We’re in for a wild ride, and we’d love it if you came along!
With infinite appreciation,
Jess, Brittany, Eric, and Ian
